‘Warcraft 3,’ ‘Diablo 2’ Remastered Versions In The Works? Blizzard Job Listings Appear To Suggest So

Job listings on Blizzard’s website are getting attention online for suggesting that “Warcraft 3” and “Diablo 2” are being remastered. Find out more details below.

After making it official that “StarCraft” is indeed getting a remaster this year, Blizzard Entertainment is now making headlines for reportedly suggesting that it is releasing updated versions of “Warcraft 3” and “Diablo 2.” The rumor started after Blizzard itself posted some job listings on its website. Apparently, the company may have subtly indicated that it is creating remastered versions of the two games in the job posts it published recently.

One job listing the company made is for a Senior Software Engineer. In the description, Blizzard first pointed how big its dated games were back in the day. “Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replayability. Qualities that made ‘StarCraft,’ ‘Warcraft III’ and ‘Diablo II’ the titans of their day.”

Though the games continue to bask in the unwavering popularity they have established with their loyal fans, all of them are in need of certain updates to make them more abreast with the changes in the gaming technology in the recent years. “Evolving operating systems, hardware and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation,” the job listing read.

The last part of the listing was actually the one that subtly confirmed the remasters. “We’re restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done,” the company stated. Since the “StarCraft” remaster is already scheduled for release this summer, it makes sense that the person who gets hired will likely work with the remastering team for the other two games.

IGN also pointed out that the updated versions of “Warcraft 3” and “Diablo 2” will likely be made available through the core Blizzard app. This is due to the fact that Blizzard is looking for a server engineer to be part of its team. As of late, the two games are only playable online through the legacy version of Battle.net.

Another job listing that was first spotted by PCGamesN also alluded to the idea that the publisher is remastering “Warcraft 3” and “Diablo 2.” The job post apparently states, “‘Warcraft,’ ‘StarCraft’ and ‘Diablo’ await your machinations.” Also indicated in the job post for a UX/UI designer is the position’s duty to “breathe the original soul of our classics into new forms.”

The same ad mentions that the person who gets hired will do some major overhaul to the user interface of the games and an update to their online architecture. These things will be done in order for the two to provide quality gaming experience to both longtime and new generation players who mostly have access to modern hardware and more advanced online services at present.

Blizzard has yet to issue a statement or make an official announcement about the rumored remastering projects. Nevertheless, many gaming news sites are claiming that the projects appear to be already in the works. After all, it makes sense for the company to breathe new life to the two classic games as soon as possible given what it has done to “StarCraft.”
