Residents tackle job opportunities
Area employment seekers attended the Douglas Job Fair, held at the Consulate of Mexico on June 8.
The third annual event was hosted by Arizona @ Work, a statewide workforce development network that assists employers in recruiting, developing and retaining employees for their needs.
The network’s Douglas office, located at 515 Seventh Street, also provides services and resources for job seekers who are actively pursuing employment opportunities.
Arizona @ Work services are provided at no charge, with the support of federal funding.
The annual job fair is considered the largest opportunity for connection between job applicants and employers in the area.
At the fair, nearly 20 different agencies, organizations, and businesses from around the state and county participated; including Community Provider of Enrichment Services (CPES), Federal Correctional Institution, Fiesta Canning Company, Northern Arizona University, and Trinity Services Group.
Recruiter for Trinity Services Group (TSG), Nancy Stanford was at the job fair distributing information about the company’s available positions in their Food Service program. TSG is one of the nation’s largest providers of food service and secure product delivery to the corrections industry, with locations in Tucson, Yuma, Safford, Ft. Grant, and Florence.
TSG is now offering on-site interviews for the positions of Food Service Director and Food Service Supervisors. The company offers various incentives including medical, dental and vision benefits, matching 401k plan, flexible spending account, tuition reimbursement and more. Stanford mentioned that Trinity Services Group is a good employment opportunity for many people, as prerequisites are minimal.
There were also several local employers at the Douglas Job Fair, offering application information on a wide range of positions.
The Center for Academic Success is currently recruiting teachers and teachers assistants. Chiricahua Community Health Center has various open positions including adult nurse practitioner, certified medical coder, coding and credentialing supervisor, dental assistant, environmental services, facility maintenance, and family nurse practitioner among many others.
The City of Douglas was on-site searching for a new transit bus driver, and the Police Department continues to actively recruit new officers.
