Colorado Springs job fair Thursday will feature 145 employers, more than 2,500 jobs
An improved Colorado Springs economy means more people have jobs and employers have fewer qualified applicants to fill positions.
As a result, 145 employers have registered to participate in the Pikes Peak Workforce Center’s Fall Job Fair on Thursday – the agency’s largest such event this year.
The fair takes place from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Hotel Eleganté, 2886 S. Circle Drive on the Springs’ south side. Veterans and eligible spouses can arrive at 9:30 a.m.
Fall job fairs “have never come close to this many employers participating,” Workforce Center spokesman Dean Miller said via email.
Linda Rice, the Workforce Center’s executive director, said the area’s low unemployment rate “continues to force employers to work harder to recruit talent from a smaller candidate pool.” Local unemployment stood at 2.9 percent in July.
The job fair’s 145 employers will have more than 2,500 open positions across all major job sectors, according to the Workforce Center.
The center encourages applicants to preregister and research participating employers at www.connectingcolorado.com. In some cases, job seekers can pre-apply for open positions.
Job seekers who can’t attend Thursday’s job fair can visit the Pikes Peak Workforce Center for help with their job search and to apply directly to participating employers listed online.
