Bombarded by different recruiters for the same job — what is going on?

Monday, July 3rd, 2017 - Resume
I work in IT (tech support). The other day I got a recruitment email that seemed legitimate and appealing, so I sent them my resume. They called me back, we talked briefly, and they said I would hear from them shortly. Since then, I’ve been bombarded by other recruiters who are obviously recruiting candidates for the exact same job. I can tell because sometimes they name the company, and even if they don’t, most of the time they cut-and-paste the exact same job description. What is going on here?

Why would a company outsource their recruiting to so many different companies? I’m up to a dozen inquiry letters, each one matched with a phone call (luckily these are easy to screen). Is this a sign that the company is kind of sleazy?

It’s been a week since I’ve heard from the first recruiter, by the way, and I’ve noticed the same job starting to pop up on public job-listing sites like Monster and such. I don’t know if I should care about that or not — the constant bombardment is kind of turning me off from the job anyway.
