Blizzard Job Listings Point Toward Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 Remasters
Blizzard currently has several positions open for developers, artists, animators and UI specialists to work on some of its older franchises. According to the job listings, Blizzard is working on WarCraft, StarCraft and Diablo with the aim of “restoring them to glory.”
All signs point toward a remastered version of Diablo II being on the cards, following in the footsteps of the upcoming StarCraft: Remastered. One of the biggest telltale signs is the advertisement for a UI/UX Visual Designer, with Blizzard “looking for a renaissance designer to harmonize that which was, with that which will be. Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo await your machinations. If you have the desire to rise to that challenge, we’d love to hear from you.”
Blizzard is one of those rare companies that continues to support its back catalog almost in perpetuity. They’re all still great games, decades later, so it makes a great deal of sense to breathe a bit of life back into. Diablo II and WarCraft 3 in particular stand out as absolute classics, and both could stand to benefit from a loving touch-up. In the absence of Diablo IV and Warcraft IV, it’s the best we can hope for.
